At beginning of the trip we’ll visit the main plaza, “9 de julio”. After that, we’ll go to the “Cabildo”, it’s a colonial building, the oldest of the city. Then, we’ll continue to the cathedral, where you’ll find the images of our “Señora del milagro y el Señor del milagro” which are the parents of this province. Besides, inside of the building are guarded rests and ashes of mayor important figures, like Gral. Martin Miguel de Guemes. Just a 2 blocks away, there is an architectonic beauty. The San Francisco church, which original construction started in 1625, and it’s actual form finishes at XCIII century. The next spot, will be the San Bernardo convent, since 1846, it’s the closing monastery of the barefoot “carmelitas”. And later on, at the skirt of “san bernardo” hill, a monument rises, under the name of “Gral. San Martin Miguel de Guemes”. We’ll climb the top of the hill after 8km of stairs or we can take the cable-way transport, so can have a full view of Salta city. Also we’ll go to San Lorenzo, 12 km away from central city, to Villa veraniega, surrounded of a beautiful river. And last but not less important, we’ll go to artisan market , where you’ll find handcrafts from different towns of the Argentinian north.
Out of Salta city, going south right on route 68, we’ll going through Cerrillos, La Merced and El Carril, tobacco production towns, Coronel Moldes, where we can visit the damn Cabra Corral and Alemanía, which is a small ghost town that keeps the traces of the past. And finally arriving the Quebrada de las conchas o Quebrada de Cafayate. In it’s landscape we will appreciate mountain formations with some curious forms made by the pluvial and wind erosion. The popular fantasy gave to this formations names, like: Garganta del diablo, El anfiteatro, El sapo, Los castillos, etc. After going through this path of the Quebrada, we’ll finally arrive to Cafayate city at the lunch time. On this circuit the visits to the wine cellars are included, they are near the center, guided by the personal staff, and they’ll teach us some data about it’s production, concluding tasting their most exquisite Cafayate wine. Once finalizing with Cafayate city, after lunch, we are going back to Salta city, doing some technical stops on the same route.
On route 68, we will go through 3 tobacco production towns, Cerrilos, La Merced and El Carril. Then we’ll take route 33, to begin with the Quebrada de Escoipe, jungle area, full with ferns, making this green area so characteristic. From now on, we’ll visit the Cuesta del Obispo, to reach it’s highest spot, which is Piedra del Molino, to 3348 meters above the sea level. The next spot of this travel is Recta Tin Tin, it’s a perfect line of 18 Km, traced by the ancient Incas, and the national park Los Cardones , where you’ll see cardons, very high and with various forms. Cachi, it’s a small town, with colonial architecture, small houses, cobbled streets, adobe walls and roofs with cardon wood of the Calchaqui valleys. After we’ll visit anthropological museum, where you’ll see important and beautiful collections of ancient people. Another interest spot is the parish church, where the ceiling, the bench and the confessional are made of cactus wood, After luch, concluding with this trip, we will go back to Salta city, by the same way, making some technical stops on the route.

Going to Jujuy province, we’ll visit the beautiful Quebrada de Humahuaca, named, historical heritage of humanity by the UNESCO. On route 9, we’ll go through a volcano, to 2070 meters above the sea, and Tumbaya, at the shores of the river Grande. The first stop it’s in the small and gorgeous town of Purmamarca, where we can find the Cerro de 7 colores, and visit the main plaza, full of artisan stalls. We’ll continue on route 9, and we’ll arrive to Humahuaca town, during the luch time. This city , at 2939 meters above the sea level, we’ll found the Cathedral church of La Candelaria , and visit some museums and monuments , like La Independecia monument, and in the way back , we’ll meet Uquía, an ancient temple, with and Altiplano style with Bolivian architecture, inside of it, there are some paintings from Cusco, called “Los ángeles arcabuceros”. Also we’ll go to Huacalera, where we can observe a monolit, it indicates the line of the Tropic of Capricorn. The other place, not to forget, it’s Tilcara, at 2461 meters above the sea level, here, we’ll visit the municipal archaeological museum, and El Pucará ( ruins of an ancient fortress, at the pre-incaic period ). The last place of this circuit is the city of San Salvador de Jujuy ( capital of this province ) . here we’ll make a little city tour, visiting the main plaza, the cathedral, and the goberment house. Then we’ll go back to Salta city.

SALINAS GRANDES Y PURMAMARCA
During this tour we will be accompanied by viaducts and bridges by transiting TRAIN TO THE CLOUDS. North on Route 51 will visit the town of Campo Quijano, Where will find and old train. Then we’ll drive along the Quebrada del Toro, where they begin to dominate the landscape of cacti. As we move along the way, the landscape becomes more arid contrasting with the green groves of small villages on the shores of rivers. Continuing along Route 51 we’ll reach the village of SANTA ROSA DE TASTIL. Place one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. Ruins SANTA ROSA DE TASTIL. The circuit continues to San Antonio de los Cobres, at lunchtime. Here we have free time for lunch and explore this small town. Then we have to continue our tour on the National Route 40, crossing the provincial border between Salta and Jujuy, to reach the majestic BIG SALINAS. We’ll visit a house built entirely of salt, the only things wooden are the roof, the beams, windows and doors. We will have access to pools where they extract the salt, then processed for human consumption. Having toured the BIG SALINAS, do 25 km. on Route No. 52, down about 2000 ms. by the Cuesta de Lipan, whose highest point is at 4170 meters above the sea level. to reach the beautiful village of Purmamarca. Whose main attraction is the Incredible Cerro de los 7 colores and beautiful main square, surrounded by craft stalls. This is the last point on our tour, from here we will return to Salta city.
Entering the province of Jujuy, we’ll visit the beautiful Quebrada de Humahuaca, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We begin the journey through the towns of Volcano (2070 m.s.n.m.) and Tumbaya, which are erected along the Rio Grande. The first stop is in the beautiful village of Purmamarca, where you’ll see El Cerro de los 7 Colores and visit the main square, in which around find many craft stalls. Continuing along Route 9, we reach the village of Humahuaca near lunchtime. This city is located at 2939 meters above the sea level. and it is here where we know the Candelaria Cathedral Church(1873) and we can visit various museums and monuments including the Independence Monument. From here we will take the road to the village of Iruya get around sunset and this is where we spend the night (being released passengers) and then the next morning to take the way back. Back we visit the ancient temple town of Uquía, architectural style characteristics Bolivian altiplano, has within a Cuzco paintings called “Los ángeles arcabuceros”. In Huacalera also know where we can see a monolith which indicates the crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn. Another must-see spots Tilcara, is located at 2461 meters above the sea level. Here we’ll visit the municipal archaeological museum and the Púcara (Ruins of an ancient fortress dating back to the pre-Inca times) The last point of this circuit will be the City of San Salvador de Jujuy (Capital of the Province of Jujuy) On this site we will have little City Tour, visiting the Main Plaza, the Cathedral and the Government House. And whether to return to Salta Capital.
On 68 route we’ll cross Three Tobacco Companies locations, Cerrillos, La Merced and Carril, then on 33 route, will start touring La Quebrada de Escoipe area of forest vegetation, lined with ferns. From now on, we will cross the majestic Cuesta del Obispo, a winding path surrounded by stunning mountains and covered by a beautiful green mantle mountains, and this is where we can glimpse the majestic flight of the Condor, to reach the peak height in Piedra Molino, at 3348 meters above the sea level. The next point on the route is the line of Tin Tin, perfect line of 18 km. drawn by the ancient Incas, and Los Cardones National Park, where you’ll see cardon high and with various forms. We arrived at Cachi near lunch time. Cachi is characterized as the colonial place of the Calchaquíes Valleys, where we’ll visit the museum Anthropological Museum, which displays important and beautiful collections. Another point of interest is the Parish Church. After lunch we will take the National Route No. 40 to visit the village Seclantas, famous for the work of artisans and weavers, who perform beautiful ponchos with rudimentary looms roadside. Then we arrive to the town of Molinos, where we visit the village church, the house of the last royal governor of Salta and Vicuñas. Then we arrive at the village of Angastaco and from here we start to go La Quebrada de las Flechas, where we will be astonished by its so particular landscape. Finally we arrive at Cafayate City, finally on our first day out and this is where we spend the night spot. On the second day of this tour, we will visit the City of Cafayate and do tours in the most famous and traditional wineries in the Calchaquis Valles, making wine tastings and plenty learning one of the most important industries in the area. Then we will return to Salta Capital through the beautiful Quebrada de las Conchas, where we will appreciate the fabulous terracotta Hills and visit incredible natural formations and Mountainous Networks, as the Devil’s Throat, The Amphitheatre, The Titanic, The House Parrots, Las Ventanas, El Sapo, etc.
The period between Salta and San Antonio de los Cobres panoramic stretch will give us a very attractive, especially when we pass through the Quebrada del Toro, site where is the famous Train to the Clouds moving views, following parallel this circuit. We also visit the small town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, the museum and archaeological site, are part of the International Project Qhapaq Ñam: Andean Highway System. The importance of this site is that it was crossed by the Roads of the Inca Empire that united regions such as the Puna and the Calchaquí Valleys. From San Antonio de los Cobres to Tolar Grande, we can say that begins the mystical journey into the heart of the Puna Salteña, we will cross through areas of outstanding beauty and contrasts, salt flats, deserts, volcanoes and Andean towns that we will see before arriving to Tolar Grande . Once in the last village of the Puna Salteña, will visit this charming town and its surroundings, guided by locals, will eat in fmamily diners and be in touch with local artisans to buy at a good price their products. This tour will allow us to go from Ojos de Mar, to the vast Salar de Arizaro and Arita Cone, take a hike to the viewpoint of El Arenal to admire volcanoes and mountains over 5500 meters above the sea level. such as Aracar, Macon, Llullaillaco, Socompa, Arizaro, among others. The shocking nature of the place, combined with the warmth and friendliness of the locals make visitors experience the feeling of being in another world and feel a great affection for these Andean inhabitants after sharing 3 unforgettable days with them.
